SUNDERLAND are rumoured to be in talks to sign former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
Sky Sports News report that the Black Cats want former Newcastle man Jenas, who appears to be surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham have already offloaded Luka Modric to Real Madrid for £32m and Rafael van der Vaart looks to be on his way to Hamburg.
But it appears Andre Villas-Boas is ready to lose another midfield option in Jenas, who has 21 England caps and scored one goal.
The deal could pour cold water on Sunderland’s rumoured interest in Fulham’s Clint Dempsey - who appears to be moving to Aston Villa.
And Jenas could join Spurs colleague Danny Rose in a move to Wearside. Rose has been strongly linked with Sunderland.
Jenas left the Black Cats’ rivals Newcastle, claiming life in the North East was like being in a goldfish bowl.
