ITALY stalwart Alessandro Del Piero looks set to complete a move to Australian side Sydney FC.
The 37-year-old was released by Juventus this summer - ending a 19-year affiliation with the Italian giants.
Del Piero scored 208 goals for Juve and cemented his place in Serie A folklore.
But now it looks like the striker is to embark on a new chapter Downunder.
It is believed that Del Piero has agreed personal terms with A-League outfit, in a deal thought to be one of the most lucrative in Australian footballing history.
The World Cup winner reportedly turned down a host of offers including one from SPL side Celtic in favour of a move to the Sky Blues.
Speaking ahead of the move, Sydney chairman Scott Barlow said: “This is huge for Sydney FC, huge for the A-League and huge for Australian football.
“We feel honoured that Alessandro has decided to play for Sydney FC and we share his excitement that a move to Sydney FC will create a lasting legacy for football in this country.
“I want to thank chief executive Tony Pignata and agent Lou Sticca for the outstanding work over the last few days in progressing discussions with Alessandro and look forward to Tony finalising the contract in Italy over the coming days.”
