Three back for Seaham Red Star’s tough trip north

Have your say

SEAHAM Red Star have three men back for tomorrow’s Division Two visit to promotion hopefuls Team Northumbria.

Mattie McEwan, Anthony Laidler and Gary Anderson return to Kevin Turns’ side, but Mark Ewart and Chris McCabe cannot play.

Horden CW go to Thornaby, strengthened by Lee Armes, Gilberto Chapim, Andrew Richardson, Simon Ord and Adam Burnicle, but Michael Joseph is banned.

Boss Brian Honour is optimistic for the future, even though Horden are third bottom with two games left.

He said: “We are completing the first year of a five-year plan. We’ve fielded an extremely young side throughout and I’m confident that, if we all stick together, we’ll have learned from the experience and be a better team next season.”

Washington host promotion hopefuls North Shields and manager Dave Smith delays announcing his side until shortly before kick-off.

Robins miss Paul Watson, but Andy Wright, Neil Baistow and teenager John Grey come into contention.

Birtley visit champions Newton Aycliffe without Paul Bonnick, John Roseby and Hughie Stephenson, but manager Scott Oliver expects goalkeeper Dan Regan to have recovered from flu.
