SILKSWORTH Paragon came through a tough Durham County Sunday Cup tie at Witton Park Rose and Crown, winning a penalty shoot-out 5-4.

Andy Middleton scored a late equaliser for Paragon to take the game to extra time. With no further goals, the game had to be decided on penalties. Paragon edged it and had Petre, Hopps, Herron, McCain and Lee Scott scored the important spot-kicks.

Hylton Castle TWR recorded a fantastic 4-0 win over Felling Fiddlers Three. Excellent football from Hylton Castle saw them comprehensively outplay their visitors, with doubles from Kev Gordon and Drysdale doing the damage.

RCA Grangetown Florists simply couldn’t compete with Norton George and Dragon, who played the home side off the park and recorded a 5-0 win. Shaun Petch played well for RCA but they couldn’t find the net.

Myers went out of the cup without a good fight as they went down 3-0 to Pelton RAOB. Dugdale stood out for Myers.

Ryhope CW lost out 2-1 to Hartlepool side Throston Hotspur. Nath Doran opened the scoring, but Throston hit back with a goal in each half to seal the win.

H The Cliff were close to folding but pulled things around to get a team out for their League Cup third round clash with South Hylton Potters.

They went down 4-2 but put up a good fight. Muir and Slocombe scored for Cliff, but Potters were too strong and Curtis, Martin, Greener and Griffiths eased them through.
