SILKSWORTH Paragon created a big shock in the League Cup fourth round, overcoming mighty Farringdon ISL 3-2.
Paragon pin-up Adam Hopps opened the scoring, but David “Busta” Paul levelled. Paragon regained the lead through Gary Barnfather, only for Paul to equalise again, setting up a tense finale.
But Paragon sensed victory and, after a fine move, youthful Lewis Herron got on the end of a great ball and slotted home to seal a memorable home victory.
RCA Grangetown Florists needed penalties to overcome Hylton Castle TWR, winning 3-1 in the shoot-out after a 1-1 extra-time draw.
Heptinstall put RCA in front early on, but they relied on keeper Harkness to keep TWR at bay, though Kev Gordon managed to beat him midway through the second half.
Neither side found a winner in the extra half hour, taking the tie toe penalties. Norton, Place and Hall converted for Florists, with Gordon the only visitor to score.
South Hylton Potters, 4-0 winners against The Stumble Inn, are hoping for a glamour tie in the next round after brushing aside their visitors with goals from Paul Maw (2), Griffiths and Martin.
