SANDHILLS nearly caused an upset against RCA Grangetown Florists in the Joe Holborn Memorial Cup.

They took an early lead through McCabe and held that early lead until midway through the second half, when Rob Hall nodded home a set piece from Bryan Norton to level.

RCA then took over and Andy Place hit a brace to take Florists through.

Holders Humbledon and Plains Farm crashed out of the FA Sunday Cup, going down 3-1 to Liverpool Business Houses League side Home and Bargain at a windswept Nissan.

Hylton Castle TWR recorded an easy 5-0 Premier Division win at Guide Post. Gordon (2), Cresswell (2) and Monson all notched. Clegg shone for Post

With the Silksworth Paragon lads more interested in their own headlines than in their derby at Ryhope CW, they failed to repeat their scoring efforts from the previous week.

The blame was placed on Lee Scott as he put a chance wide in the dying minutes from three yards out – and will not enjoy his Christmas lunch now.

Gary Barnfather starred for Paragon, Anthony Rogerson for Ryhope.

There are no fixtures tomorrow, because of the clash with the Tyne-Wear derby, and the league will not resume until January 4.
