Sunderland Sunday League: Dons on fire

Have your say

SR DONS played Ryhope CW off the park to record a convincing 5-1 Premier Division win.

Star man Adam Elliott shone throughout as Dons went three up through Charlton and Dan Emery (2).

King pulled a goal back, but Dons struck twice more, through Noble and Harrison, to settle the issue.

Luke Page’s well-taken opener helped Farringdon ISL to a 2-0 home win over Hylton Castle TWR.

TWR could not take their chances and their fate was sealed when Paul Taylor rolled back the years to score with an audacious effort.

Guide Post cruised to an easy 5-0 victory against Westmount, with Anth Young (2), Armstrong, Spence and super sub Mitchell all scoring.

In the First Division, Ryhope Top House won a pulsating game 4-3 against battling Grange Park, who had Ryan Muldown and two-goal Ryan Rowe on target. McConwell, Taylor, Mitchell and man of the moment Jordan Birnie gave Top House the edge.

South Hylton Potters defeated Stackyard 2-0, with McCollin and Paul Maw notching, while Steels Athletic won by the same score at home to The Ashbrooke.

Player-manager Micky Copeland hit the first past the diving David Passmore, then Billy Staite hit a second as he outpaced Kenny Taylor to blast home.

The only Fourth Division match saw Martin Telfer Carpets pip Oddfellows Arms 3-2.

John Cullen scored two goals from defence to set the Carpetmen on their way. Naylor replied, but Carpets increased their lead through Trotter. Shaun Muncaster bagged a second for Oddfellows, but the hosts held on.
