THE league’s last two hopes in the Durham County Sunday Cup saw their dreams dashed.
Hylton Castle TWR showed great character to pull back from a 3-0 deficit against former winners Hetton Lyons CC, levelling with Matthew Raine’s goal and an Adam Drysdale brace.
But Lyons popped up with a spectacular winner in the dying minutes.
Silksworth Paragon went down 2-1 to a tidy Throston Hotspur side, with poor finishing proving costly. The Hartlepool side were two up before Reece McCann came off the bench to reduce the deficit late on.
