Sunderland RCA face tough trip north in FA Cup opener

SUNDERLAND RCA have been handed a tough opening tie in the 2012/13 FA Cup.

Neil Hixon’s men must go to Northern League First Division rivals Ashington in the extra preliminary round on August 11, but the winners will be confident of further progress – away to Marske United or Stokesley, both from Division Two.

RCA are exempt to the first round proper of the FA Vase, when they will host either Ryton and Crawcrook Albion or Bishop Auckland.

Seaham Red Star are not entered in the FA Cup, but they have home advantage against Wearside League Willington in the FA Vase’s first qualifying round.
