Sunderland Deaf fired up for national championship final

Have your say

SUNDERLAND Deaf football team take on London outfit St John’s Deaf, looking for revenge tomorrow.

The teams meet in the England Deaf Football League Championship final in Nottingham.

The contest pits the Black Cats – who won the Northern League by four points – against the winners of the Southern League, in a repeat of last season’s final.

Sunderland were the underdogs on that occasion, coming to the end of their very first season after the club was formed in the summer of 2013, but there was to be no fairytale ending as St John’s emerged as 2-0 winners.

With another year under their belts, Sunderland travel with high hopes of taking the club’s first ever silverware.
