Sunderland Deaf AFC are back!

Have your say

THE TWR Trade Frames Wearside Combination League have rolled back the years to welcome Sunderland Deaf AFC into the fold for the first time since 1953.

Sunderland Deaf were founder members of the league, playing from 1939 until their demise 14 years later. Now, 61 years on, playing under the banner of the Foundation for Light charity with promising young talent, the club aims to become the established driving force in North East deaf football for generations to come and offer young deaf footballers a platform to perform and enjoy the sport.

The league have also welcomed back Wearside Athletic for the 2014/15 season, and are also keen to attract more teams for the new campaign, which begins in August.

Officias say that all clubs will be assisted in getting started, including having their first season’s league fees paid, with help from the league sponsors.

Though the league plays on Saturday afternoons, a new agreement will see clubs able to kick-off at any time that suits on days when Sunderland are at home in the Premier League.
