Steele: Silksworth are going well

Have your say

SILKSWORTH CW aim to end a three-match winless streak when they line up at home against Wolviston in the Wearside League tonight.

“We are still mid-table which is a tremendous improvement on where we were at this stage last season. Morale is high and the club is confident going forward,” declared chairman David Steele.

Manager Mark McGinley is again without leading scorer Andrew Place but is hopeful that another striker Craig Lines will make the starting line-up.

Wolviston are only ahead of Silksworth on goal difference and their chances of staying ahead of tonight’s opponents are boosted with the return of Stephen Pickard, Daryl Tomlinson and Robbie McIlroy.

Goalkeeper Chris Davidson is an injury doubt while Craig Ferguson cannot play.

Recar Athletic have a trio of players struggling to be fit for the fixture at Horden CW. Adam Preston, James Swann and Alex Anderson all missed Saturday’s defeat by Ryhope CW.

Harton and Westoe entertain Richmond Town hoping to bounce back following a couple of poor performances. They are likely to have Steven Graham and Levi Collins added to the squad which figured in the last game.

It’s a case of two in and two out for Richmond Town who name Bradley Woods and Simon Pinkney but neither Scott Guy nor Adam Gilroy are available.

Boldon CA manager Jason Jones is banned and also out for the visit of Annfield Plain is striker Brodie Simpson but there’s a chance that Phil Turner could return to the heart of the defence.
