JEFF Smith had a hand in all three goals when Bishop Auckland produced probably their best pre-season performance in defeating Darlington 1883 3-0 at Heritage Park last night.

Smith opened the scoring on 41 minutes with a fine individual goal. He made a run down the left before firing past Mark Bell from 20 yards.

Smith delivered a good free-kick which Robert Moncur crashed home for 2-0, then Dan Hawkins headed in an accurate Smith centre late on.

Spennymoor blitzed Northallerton 8-2, inspired by four-goal Wearsider Mark Davison. Liam Henderson (2), Leon Ryan and Tom Bott also notched. Jarrow Roofing won 4-2 at Shankhouse, with Paul Gardner, Stephen Young and Andy Appleby (2) on target.
