Ryhope CW ready to see off their closest challengers

IT’S a top versus second when Ryhope CW host Redcar Athletic in tonight’s crucial Wearside League game at Meadow Park, writes MALCOLM PRATT.

Martin Swales’ side have a three-point lead and a game in hand on their rivals.

Ryhope definitely miss Paul Taylor, while David Newby and Phil Hall require late fitness tests, but Nathan O’Neill and Liam Dale return.

Redcar include new signing Robbie Clarkson along with John Seaton and Greg Boughy, but Sam Young and Greg Booth are sidelined.

Peterlee Town, with two wins and three draws from 10 games, host Kirkbymoorside. Andrew Collier, Stephen Hockaday and Martin Jones return for Town, while Peter Crawford and Rob Huntley also come into contention, though a doubt surrounds Paul Moss.

Jarrow expect a tough contest at Willington, with both sides in the top four.

Jarrow have Paul Terrell, Andy Wilkinson and Grant Pressling back in the sqaud but Liam Clark is injured. Willington go without James Seymour, Danny Lee, Graeme Lazenby and Dean Hanson.

Bottom club Silksworth Rangers entertain fellow strugglers Wolviston, while Sunderland West End are at Northern League club Shildon in the Durham Challenge Cup.

Manager Steve Patton reports that Scott Young, David Keighley and Jonathon Greener are suspended.

H For the first time in the history of the league, three female officials will be in charge when Willington play Jarrow at Hall Lane. Helen Connolly will be in the middle with Lynn Brown and Rebecca Welsh as her assistants.
