RYHOPE CW, newly promoted to the Ebac Northern League second division, have been handed an away tie against Norton and Stockton Ancients in the first round of the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup, writes by Malcolm Pratt.

Chester-le-Street are also on their travels to Willington while an intriguing game is in prospect when much-fancied Washington have home advantage against Seaham Red Star, who narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

Birtley Town have a bye in the first round and travel to Alnwick Town for their second round tie.

First round: (A) Norton and Stockton Ancients v Ryhope CW, (B) Thornaby v Stokesly SC, (C) Esh Winning v Hebburn Town (D) Brandon United v Team Northumbria (E) Willington v Chester-le-Street, (F) Washington v Seaham Red Star.
