Ryhope CW conclude a great season

Have your say

EVEN though they were crowned champions at the weekend, Ryhope CW aim to end their Wearside League season on a high when they travel to Hartlepool tonight, writes MALCOLM PRATT.

Manager Martin Swales though cannot call upon Clayton Davis, Phil Hall, Greg Swansbury, Chris Trewick or Jonathan Davis but fortunately David Anderson, Neil Atkinson and Dean Arkley return to the squad.

The Wearsiders, who have also won the Monkwearmouth Cup and the Shipowners’ Cup, will attempt a clean sweep when they line up with Willington in the Final of the Wearside League Cup at Hall Lane on Saturday.

Hartlepool could finish seventh if they inflict what would be a rare defeat on Ryhope. Kyle Anderson is expected to be named in a full-strength line-up.

With two games to play, New Marske need just a point to finish third behind runners-up Easington Colliery, at home to Willington, who have doubts surrounding the availability of Jamie Jackson and twins Sean and Michael Mackin.

Willington, who will play their first cup final in 36 years when they meet Ryhope on Saturday, await news on the availability of Paul Thorns and James Seymour. Definitely out is Jason White, with a broken leg.

Easington Colliery, preparing for life in the STL Northern League, host Cleator Moor Celtic in their last game. Boss Andy Colledge names Graeme Liddle and David Doughty but Darren George, Chris Tarn, Chris Hall and Dale Crawford are all sidelined.
