SHILDON, the last Northern League survivors, must replay at Stourbridge in the FA Cup third qualifying round in the Midlands tomorrow, following their goalless draw at Dean Street, in which Daniel Moore’s stunning late volley from outside the box was spectacularly saved by keeper Dean.
Evo-Stik League clubs Spennymoor Town and Blyth Spartans both progressed. Jason Ainsley’s Moors beat visitors Ashton United 1-0 with a Joe Tait penalty in the 75th minute, after Gavin Cogdon was fouled.
Spennymoor, meanwhile, have agreed to put former Sunderland reserve-teamer Keith Graydon on the transfer list, with the player – who memorably netted for Moors in the FA Vase final success last season – keen to play more football.
Blyth won through to today’s fourth qualifying round draw – just one more win away from joining clubs like Sheffield United and Portsmouth in the first round proper – when by triumphing 2-1 at Mickleover Sports. Robbie Dale hit a superb opener for Blyth, and they won it with a 12-yard strike from Jarrett Rivers in stoppage time.
