RCA to try again to stage FA Vase tie on Tuesday

All games in the FA Carlsberg Vase, Ebac Northern League and Wearside League were postponed on Saturday.

The six Vase ties will now be played this midweek

Sunderland RCA host Tadcaster Albion at Meadow Park tomorrow night (7.30pm), when South Shields’ mouthwatering game with Morpeth Town at Mariners Park will also take place (7.30pm).

Seaham Red Star travel to Dunston UTS, also in a 7.30pm kick-off. Elsewehere, Marske United are at home to Team Northumbria and Newton Aycliffe entertain Atherton Colliers.

The remaining tie, between holders North Shields and Runcorn Town, is schedulled for Wednesday at the Daren Persson Stadium (7.45pm).

Waterlogged pitches and snow were the reasons for the postponements, but at Horden CW, their Wearsider League match was called off because of safety concerns after a floodlight pylon had been damaged in last week’s strong winds.

The only senior game to get the go-ahead in the North East was at Croft Park, where Blyth Spartans outgunned Barwell 4-0.

Sean Reid (2), Michael Richardson and Danny Parker steered table-topping Blyth five points clear of closest challengers Nantwich Town, with a game in hand too.

Blyth are back in action at Frickley Athletic tomorrow.

National League Premier Division side Gateshead’s FA Trophy first round tie at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels has been rearranged for tomorrow night.
