RCA reprieved from the drop

Have your say

SUNDERLAND RCA have won a reprieve from relegation from the Ebac Northern League’s First Division.

RCA finished third bottom, but a vote (24 clubs to 17) at the league’s AGM on Saturday has seen the Meadow Park men spared the drop, with Jarrow Roofing, who finished fourth in Division Two, missing out on promotion.

Roofing had been expected to go up when runners-up Ryhope CW were relegated for not meeting ground criteria by the required date.

Ryhope CW are appealing against the decision to relegate them, so RCA’s reprieve may yet be temporary.

RCA have been handed a first-day trip to West Auckland in the fixtures for the new season, starting on August 10.

Seaham Red Star host Willington in Division Two, while Washington visit Stokesley SC.
