Peterlee Sunday League: Price is right for HMS Victory charge

EASINGTON HMS Victory moved into third position in Division One when they hammered basement side Peterlee Central Club 6-2, with Carl Price on target four times.

Adam Brown and Ryan Douglas also struck. Andrew Elliott starred.

Michael Bayles and Tony Rudd starred for Central, with Matty Pattinson their man of the match.

Leaders Easington Welfare suffered a setback, going down 2-0 to a solid and energetic Shotton Comrades outfit, who are now fourth, nine points off top spot with four games in hand.

Dave Beeston and Lee Smith bagged the vital goals for Comrades, with Adam Brown starring.

A mid-table clash in the only Premier Division match saw Murton Park View enjoy a convincing 5-2 win over Seaham Island Club.

Top scorer Stephen Turner led the way with a well-taken double, backed by further goals from James Watson, Graham McBeth and substitute Connor Williams. Star man Dan Armstrong and Liam Hodgson replied for the Island Club.

Paul Milner starred for Park View.

New Seaham Conservative Club continued their promotion push, in their first season in the league, by consolidating second place in Division Two thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win against Peterlee Oaklands. Two-goal Jonathan Roberts and Dan Gibson netted, with Mark Ewart man of the match.

The only other game saw third-top Trimdon Colliery Royal Albion cruising to an emphatic 8-2 win against second-bottom Hetton Fox and Hounds.

Adam Croft had a day to savour, firing five goals, backed by Paul Wilkinson’s brace and an effort from substitute Brian Harrison, with Carl Mason and Tom Scurfield replying.

Fox and Hounds are five points adrift of third-bottom Haswell Oddfellows Arms, though they have five games in hand.

Elliot Hutchinson stood out for Fox.
