Peterlee Sunday League: Price is right for Dawdon to make cup progress

Have your say

Dawdon Welfare Park progressed to the first round of the Durham County Sunday Cup last weekend.

While every other league club had a day off last weekend due to the Wear-Tyne derby match, the County Cup tie had to be played.

Dawdon, fresh from a fine success in the FA Sunday Cup and still boasting a 100 per cent record at the top of the Premier Division, won through with a 3-1 home victory against top-flight rivals Murton Park View.

Robbie Bird, Tommy Price and Paul Atkinson did the damage for Dawdon, with Dave Gordon replying.

That sets up another home tie for the Green Drive outfit this Sunday, with Wrekenton Stormont Main the visitors.

Four other league clubs will be on County Cup duty, with Seaham The George away to Sunderland side The Ashbrooke and Peterlee Helford United hosting another Wearside team, Jolly Potters.

South Hetton Cricket Club welcome Washington Sandpiper, while Horden CW Supporters Club tackle visitors Shildon Supporters.
