Peterlee Sunday League: Jackson thrives in rout of New Hesledon

THORNLEY Harry’s Bar hammered Murton New Hesledon 9-1 in Division One, helped by Dave Jackson’s brilliant hat-trick.

John Davies (2), Summerson, Middleton, Westgarth and Shaun Jackson made it nine, with Dan Owen grabbing the consolation.

Goals from Bayles and Pattinson helped Peterlee Central to draw 2-2 against Seaham Phoenix, for whom Newby and Martin netted.

Easington HMS Victory and Shotton Comrades also drew 2-2. Thomas Bott and Ryan Douglas struck for Victory, with Conor Beeston and sub Lee Buck replying.

Hetton Social hit four goals at Wingate Grange but still just picked up a point in a 4-4 draw. Michael Lee bagged a fine treble for Grange, with Simon Hall also on target, while James McCarthy, Mac Brannigan, Neil Stevenson and sub Rob Mayo steered Hetton to their point.

In the Second Division, Shotton Builders Warehouse thumped Easington Half Moon 9-1 to consolidate top spot.

Karl Garside and John Brown fired hat-tricks, while Bradley Beeston (2) and sub Simon Ward also netted. Stephen Russell hit Moon’s consolation.

Haswell Oddfellows Arms edged home 3-2 against Peterlee Oaklands, courtesy of two-goal Josh Prow and Michael Vickers. with Karl Arkwright firing both responses.

New Seaham Conservative Club saw off Wingate Plough Inn by the same score, courtesy of Dan Jackson, Ian Sinclair and sub Jonathan Roberts. Lee Wood and Dave Cummings struck for Plough.

Premier Division champions Peterlee Helford United climbed to fifth place with an emphatic 12-2 win against bottom club Easington Lane WMC.

Gary Shaw bagged four goals, backed by sub Anthony Cook (2), Keith Broom, John Pyle, Andrew Lonsdale, Stephen Hockaday, Michael Cain and sub Joe Bell. Kyle Scott and Ian Morrell scored for Lane.

Horden CW Supporters Club, 3-2 victors against Peterlee Catholic Club, still head the table. Two-goal Shaun Atherton and Rick Ramsey did the damage, with Dave Taylor and Paul Wintrip responding.

Second-top Easington CIU remained a point behind top spot when Craig Robinson settled a close-fought contest against Murton Park View 1-0.

Hetton The Tuns’ clash with Horden Comrades was postponed because the visitors failed to have a full squad available.

Seaham The George reached the John & Pat McManus Memorial Cup third round, with Tony Hopkirk and sub Michael Wilson sinking Easington Welfare 2-0.

Phil Hickman (2) and Johnny Briggs struck in vain for Wingate, who lost 5-3 to Seaham Island Club. Anthony Watson (2), Marc Taylor, Dave Gill and Paul Atkinson inspired Island.

South Hetton Cricket Club progressed in the Cyril Dunn Memorial Cup as Matthew Johnson (2) and Philip Quinn pipped Easington Southside 3-2, with Paul Elliott and Paul Newby replying.

In the Second Division League Cup, Dave Kember and Michael Coates struck for Peterlee Hearts, but Hetton Fox and Hounds eased home 5-2 thanks to Scott Taylor’s hat-trick, plus goals from Karl Powney and Andrew Stephenson.
