Crook Town rocked old rivals Willington with a hard-earned 2-1 victory in last night’s Ebac Northern League Division Two derby at Hall Lane.
Crook took the lead after just five minutes when Dan Smith’s shot from more than 30 yards flew past keeper Stephen Robinson.
Willington got a boost on 35 minutes when the visitors’ Peter Brown was shown the red card for a high elbow.
The sending-off did not deter Town, though,as they doubled their lead after 59 minutes, when Connor Hughes smashed a classy volley past keeper Robinson for 2-0.
Willington pulled one back when Connor Lowes’ close-range shot found the net, but Crook held on for a well-deserved win, climbing two places to 17th and now just two points behind Willington.
