PETERLEE Town contributed to a 3-1 defeat by Cleator Moor Celtic in last night’s Wearside League game with some indifferent defending, writes MALCOLM PRATT.
Goalkeeper Kyle Donaldson, though, could not be blamed for the opening goal on 28 minutes. He made a good save, but the ball rebounded kindly to Leigh Dunn and Donaldson had no chance with the follow-up shot.
Within two minutes, however, the Newtowners were level. Liam Dunn split the visitors’ defence and David Laight fired home.
The hosts were culpable as Craig Padley sent in a cross which Craig Corkhill headed into the net for 2-1, then Leigh Dunn again took advantage of slack marking to wrap up the points for the visitors.
Stockton Town made an abortive journey to Silksworth Rangers, whose fixture was postponed just before kick-off by the match referee.
