Marshall head lad in Crook’s dramatic win

Have your say

NEWLY-PROMOTED Crook Town moved up to fifth place in Division One after a thrilling 4-3 victory against Dunston UTS at the Millfield.

After Andrew Bulford had given the Tynesiders the lead, Gary Pearson and Stu Gooden’s Crook side hit back through Robbie Bird and Warren Byrne.

Midway during the second period, Michael Dixon levelled, but Adam Nichols fired Crook back in front. Lewis Teasdale made it 3-3, but, with only three minutes left, Alex Marshall headed a dramatic winner for Crook, who have seven points from three games.

Consett remain winless after losing 2-0 away to Billingham Synthonia, with James Magowan and James Cronesberry netting, while Shildon were good 3-0 victors at Newcastle Benfield, thanks to second-half goals by Mark Hudson (pen), Billy Greulich-Smith and Sam Garvie.

Jamie Owens had Newton Aycliffe ahead against the run of play, but Morpeth’s Scott Swanston deservedly levelled late on.
