SILKSWORTH CW were within seconds of becoming only the second team this season to deny Stockton Town all three points when they met in the Wearside League last night.
Stephen Bagshaw headed in a Mark Robinson corner on 15 minutes to give Silksworth a surprise lead and the Colliers held the lead until the hour mark when Chris Stockton pounced on a loose ball.
The game was deep into added time when Max Craggs grabbed a dramatic winner for Stockton, and there was barely time for the game to be restarted.
Stockton now lead second-top Horden CW by eight points and have six games in hand on their rivals.
Spennymoor Town Reserves also left it late before edging past Redcar Athletic, who led courtesy of Keiran Stares and Jamie Lee going into the 88th minute.
John McReady’s goal on seven minutes kept Moors in the game and two minutes from time Reece Kenney converted a penalty to make it 2-2. A minute later, Michael Roberts hit a dramatic winner for Carl Beasley’s men.
