SEAHAM Red Star aim to build on a super victory at Whitehaven in Division Two earlier in the week, when they host North Shields tomorrow.

Assistant manager Simon Johnson said: “We played very well and to beat them so convincingly was an achievement. The commitment was faultless and if we perform at the same level tomorrow we could get another win under our belts.”

Recent signing Luke Proctor, together with Peter Bryson, Criag Watson, Michael Patterson, James Parkinson, Daniel Olosuga and Michael McVey will be competing for places in the starting line-up.

North Shields include Kevin Hughes, who played his first game of the season on Wednesday, but neither Scott Blandford nor Dean Holmes can play.

Scott Oliver has surprisingly stood down as manager of Birtley Town and his assistant Barry Fleming moves up.

“My resignation has nothing to do with the club but I felt I wanted a bit of a break after being in charge for four years.

“After leaving school I went to Hartlepool United and Stockport Town before playing in the Northern League, so really I’ve hardly had any time away from the game,” said Oliver.

Tomorrow, Fleming takes a full strength squad to Brandon United aiming to kick start Birtley’s season which has seen them win only twice in six games.
