John Butler boost for Durham City

DURHAM City joint manager Lee Collings is delighted at signing John Butler from Sunderland RCA, but bitterly disappointed that David Dowson is unable to play into tomorrow’s Evo-Stik League Division One North game at leaders Chester.

He said: “David is out with an ankle injury and his absence is a massive blow. He has been playing well.”

Collings this week re-signed full-back Butler, who was formerly at the Esh Group Stadium.

“I know what I am getting since John played for me both at Sunderland Nissan and here at Durham. He’s a very experienced defender and will be a great help to the younger members of the side,” enthused Collings.

Rufus Ayre and Mark Batey are both doubtful but Connor Winter, Jack Pounder and Josh Home Jackson could be included in the squad.
