BLYTH Spartans utility man Daniel Hawkins cannot wait for Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Birmingham City.
Hawkins, a summer signing from Bishop Auckland who can play in midfield and up front, said: “It has been a great season so far and hopefully it will continue to be that way.
“I never expected to be playing in the FA Cup as I have never played in it before. I use to just watch the Cup on TV and never could have imagined that I would be playing in the first round never mind the third round.”
Hawkins helped shoot down Hartlepool in the last round, now Gary Rowett’s Blues stand in their way at a sold-out Croft Park.
“Saturday is approaching quickly. I am sure it will be the biggest game of my life and I hope I can help the team in any way and who knows, may be in the hat for the fourth round,” added.
We have to go into the match believing we can win. It is our home ground and we don’t let anyone turn up and just walk over us. We all will be fighting through the whole game and each and everyone of us will give our best.”
