HYLTON CW cruised to a 6-0 rout of Sherburn Village WMC on the opening day of the new Durham Alliance League season.

Debutant Kevin Gordon needed just eight minutes to make a stunning breakthrough, and could have had a hat-trick but for alert defending.

Steven Anderson, fellow new boy Neil Blue, Adam Drysdale, with an unstoppable strike, an own goal and a Kyle Sumner effort, after he missed a penalty, made it six.

Murton crashed 4-0 at Wheatley Hill WMC, with Andrew Walker, David Jackson, Liam Cockerill and Richard Carr all on target, while Joe Kerry, Jack Carr and Craig Mountain earned Durham Stonebridge a 3-1 success against Dunston Holmside.

Newcomers Spennymoor Town Reserves fielded a strong side, including Leon Ryan and Sonny Andrews, and duly walloped Coxhoe United 9-1. Niall Longstaff hit four goals, backed by Ross Morrow (3) and Thomas Bott (2).
