Four new teams set for Durham Alliance League

THE Durham Alliance League have accepted four clubs into membership for next season.

The clubs – Sunderland Alexandra, Bishop Auckland Reserves, Chester-le-Street Town Reserves and Wallsend Town – were interviewed by the league management committee and impressed officials.

League secretary Bob Sinclair said: “This, coupled with the fact that we are expecting more applications in the very near future, gives the league a welcome boost at a time when grassroots football is at a very low ebb.

“Depending on circumstances elsewhere, there could be an influx of other clubs looking for a league to play in.

“The management committee would also like to encourage those clubs who have decided to resign at the end of this season to either seek pastures new or, because of other circumstances, to think again and come back and join us and help us buck the trend in grassroots football.”

Any new or established club wishing to join the league can contact the league secretary on 0143 977 1834 or 07502 404 053, or by emailing
