Holders North Shields face a daunting replay to keep alive their dreams of a second successive Wembley appearance.
The Robins were held to a 1-1 draw after extra time by Runcorn Town at the Daren Persson Stadium in last night’s delayed third round clash.
Gary Ormston fired the Robins into a 37th-minute lead, converting from close range following a corner.
Runcorn, from the North West Counties League’s Premier Division, levelled in first-half stoppage time when Chris Lawton headed home a Paul Shanley free-kick.
Runcorn had been the better side in the opening half, but the Robins dominated late in the game and almost snatched the winner with a superb effort from Dean Holmes which flew narrowly wide.
The sides will meet again at Runcorn’s Pavilions ground on Monday (7.45pm).
