SEAHAM Red Star Under-18s player Adam Curry has landed a coveted place in the England Schools FA’s Under-18s team.
England face Wales at Wrexham on March 14, the Republic of Ireland at Ashton Gate in Bristol on March 28, Northern Ireland in Belfast on April 4 and Scotland at Blackburn’s Ewood Park on April 11.
The 18-strong squad for the Centenary Shield campaign also features Spennymoor Town’s Andrew White (from Darlington College) and Dean Briggs of Gateshead College, plus Tom Devitt from Monkseaton High School.
Curry, who formerly played for Monkton Juniors and helped Red Star’s first team to reach the pre-season South Tyneside Cup final, is studying for his A levels at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn.
Red Star coach Andy Heywood said: “Adam is a mature, level-headed player who is athletic and very good at going forward. He knows that he is still learning the game and has to improve his positional play but has a very positive attitude to training and always listens to advice from us. He is one of our most consistent players.”
