DANIEL Thompson grabbed a clinical hat-trick to set up Houghton Chilton Lodge for a fine 4-2 victory over Ushaw Moor Cricket Club in the Durham City Smiles League Cup second round.

Star man Iain Macpherson also notched for Lodge, with James Richardson and sub Andrew Smith responding.

Pelton Crown edged out Premier side East Rainton 2-1, thanks to Liam Mitchell’s fine double.

Durham County won well, 5-2 away to Ferryhill Community Hub in the second round of the D&P Trophies Knockout Trophy.

Sub Alex Graham (2), Barry Thompson, Melvin Bell and Andrew Matthewson steered County home, with Shaun Meek and Michael Couch replying.
