DURHAM City joint manager Lee Collings is looking for a big improvement from his side in tomorrow’s Evo Stik League Division One North game with Woodley Sports at the Esh Group Stadium, writes Malcolm Pratt.
He said: “I was very disappointed at our performance losing to Dunston UTS in the Durham Challenge Cup on Tuesday Night.
“We dominated for much of the game, hit the woodwork four times and had two efforts cleared off the line but once again individual errors proved to be our downfall.
“It was a cup that I thought we could go all the way in and win but now we’ve got to concentrate on putting points on the board, starting tomorrow.”
City’s only doubt is Arjun Purewal who missed last Saturday’s game with a virus.
“To his credit, Arjun tried on Tuesday night but we had to take him off shortly after half time. I won’t know until tomorrow whether he has recovered” added Collings.
Goalkeeper Lewis Graham meanwhile played for Middlesbrough Reserves in a friendly on Tuesday night but the future of Ross Wilkinson and former Sunderland player David Dowson is more uncertain.
The pair had trials with Aldershot but former Newcastle United player Kevin Dillon and ex-Sunderland favourite Gary Owers have both left the club.
“Things seem to be up in the air and we don’t know whether Aldershot’s new management team will still be interested in Ross and David. We’ll just have to take things as they come” observed Collings.
