WHITEHILL were unable to halt table-toppers Wallsend Town extending their advantage in pole position.
The sole match to beat last week’s bad weather saw the Chester-le-Street side put up a gallant performance only to succumb to a 5-3 defeat.
Stephen Wood, star man Tony Healer and sub Dan Addison notched for Whitehill, but prolific marksman Derek Graham’s treble, backed by a double from defender Paul Thomson, gave the unbeaten Tynesiders the edge.
Victory took Wallsend seven points clear of closest rivals Horsley Hill, with a game in hand, but former champions Coundon & Leeholme are still well in the hunt, trailing top spot by 11 points but having four matches more to play.
Whitehill are 11th, with eight wins and eight defeats in their 16 games.
