AFTER conceding two points in their last game, Ryhope CW’s lead at the top of the Wearside League is now a mere two points as they embark on the final run in to the end of the season.
With six games to play, the Wearsiders and Redcar Athletic are almost neck and neck in the race for the Championship.
Tonight, Ryhope are at home to Boldon CA who will fight hard to turn the tables on their opponents, who thrashed them 10-0 in the reverse fixture.
“We hope to put on a better show. Since then, we have qualified to meet Ryhope in the final of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup, so we need a good result tonight,” said Boldon chairman Kevin Oliver, who reports that David Hopper and Gary Brook return to a full strength line-up.
Ryhope boss Martin Swales is not nearly so fortunate with Dean Arkley, Richard Jordan, Liam Cox and Lennie French all ruled out.
Redcar Athletic are second going into their home game with Kirkbymoorside, who are third from bottom.
The Seasiders add goalkeeper Scott Allison and defenders Jamie Lee and Sam Young to their squad.
Silksworth Rangers sign off against Ashbrooke Belford House but are unable to call upon John McLean and Darren Hannah.
Ashbrooke have Lewis Hutchinson, Jake Moan and Alan Young unavailable but Stephen Halliday and Jack Lilley come into the plans of manager Tommy Dobbing.
Sunderland West End, in with a chance of finishing third, have David Keighley injured for the visit of Gateshead Leam Rangers. Their only absentee is the suspended Leon Kane.
Coxhoe Athletic need to win at Hartlepool if they are to avoid the wooden spoon.
Wolviston are aiming to end outside the bottom six and a win over Stockton Town could lift them above Belford House, who are seventh from the basement.
