Big problems for Silksworth in Leam clash

Have your say

SILKSWORTH Rangers have no alternative but to name a makeshift attack for tonight’s Wearside League game with Leam Rangers, writes MALCOLM PRATT.

John Turvey, Dillon Holden and Leon Symonds recently left the club and, to compound their problems, Silksworth have Gary Tyzack, James Gillespy, James Alston, Anton Crann and Michael Curtis sidelined.

Adam Don returns and Jamie Hounslow is set to make his debut, but secretary David Steele said: “We are particularly short of strikers so I’m not sure who will line up in attack.”

Leam miss captain Mark Rumbles, Mark Williams, Liam Barnett and Chris Lowther, but leading scorer Leon Kane and Mick Urwin are expected to start.

Sunderland West End host Wolviston at Houghton, pleased to have skipper Jamie Fryett and Stephen Bogie in the frame, but Darren George and Gavin Dorwood miss out.

Peterlee Town await news on goalkeeper Lee Burrell, who could be out for some time if suspected knee ligament damage is confirmed.

Recent signing Kyle Donaldson will deputise at home to Coxhoe Athletic, though Peterlee are without Liam Dunn, Darren Davie and Kalvin Magnus.

Brett Gillat, Jordan Thompson, Ian Redman, Anth Nixon, Anth Hazard, Paul Taylor and Martin Hope are back in contention.

Coxhoe miss Philip Best, Dan Petts, Chris Baxter, Brad Kane and Vinny Gash, but Stephen Parnaby, Neil Charlton and Paul Orton come into the squad.

Boldon CA include goalkeeper Alan Greenan and defender David Hopper at home to Annfield Plain, who expect Scott Watson to be fit after an injury.
