HEBBURN Town and Darlington RA were involved in a memorable eight-goal thriller when they met in the STL Northern League Second Division on South Tyneside last night.

With only 15 minutes remaining, the home side led with a Liam McBryde hat-trick and an own goal but in an amazing finale, RA produced a magnificent rally to finish 4-4.

Gavin Swankey, Stephen Cheeseman, Simon Evison and James Muir, who equalised deep into stoppage time, were their marksmen.

Despite scoring first through Tom Vickers, Alnwick Town went down 3-1 at Gillford Park for whom Craig Wilson, James Earl and Tyran Taylor struck.

In Division One, South Shields were on target for a win at Ashington which would have lifted them out of the bottom six for the first time in weeks.

Stephen Ramsey scored and the Mariners went two goals up as Matthew Soulsby stroked the ball home.

Jonny Godsmark threw the Colliers a lifeline with a superb finish on 75 minutes and in the last minute, James Taylor hit the target from 16 yards.

In stoppage time, Shields’ Andrew Barclay was given a second yellow card and after the final whistle his colleague Lee Bell was dismissed for dissent.

Grant Davidson gave Penrith the lead after 15 minutes but Shildon were ahead at the interval through Warren Byrne and Ian Watson.

Late in the game Stephen Johnson and Craig Price swept Shildon to a 4-1 victory which lifted them into mid-table.
