Yeovil v Hartlepool United: Scott Fenwick set to return to Pools team

Rakish Bingham is struggling with a hamstring niggle for tomorrow’s League Two trip to Yeovil Town (kick-off 3pm).

That could pave a way for Fenwick to resume.

The striker started the opening five matches of the season – including scoring the winner against Newport County last month.

But the 26-year-old has been on the bench for five of the last six, with Rhys Oates replacing him in the forward line.

That could change tomorrow at Huish Park.

Pools boss Ronnie Moore says Bingham is “feeling his hamstring” and given Pools face a 770-mile round trip to Huish Park by coach, he may feel it prudent not to risk the 21-year-old.

Moore left out Billy Paynter for the last monster away trip, to Exeter, with the skipper also suffering with hamstring trouble.

The rest did Paynter good and now feels fully fit and the manager could go down the same route with Bingham, especially with a home match coming up on Tuesday night against Bristol Rovers.

“Rakish is feeling his hamstring – it’s a little bit tight,” said Moore.

“We’ll leave him until the last minute because with a hamstring problem it’s sometimes not worth taking a risk with.

“And you don’t want to be taking him down there for five hours on the bus and five hours back.

“We will have a real good look at him.

“And if he misses this one, then he should be OK for Tuesday [against Bristol Rovers].”

If Moore does decide to rest the summer signing from Mansfield, it represents a chance for Fenwick, who is the second top scorer with two.

The Geordie has proven an adept finisher at Pools since his move from the Northern League last year.

Pools need finishers - they have done enough to win their last two matches but have had blanks against both Exeter and Cambridge.

A win in Somerset could well move them back into the top half of the table and they should have a chance against an injury-hit Glovers.

Yeovil are down in 20th after only two wins, including last time out at Crawley, where they emerge with a 1-0 victory.

After ending their run of defeats, Moore hopes Pools can now “push on”, starting tomorrow.

“I could be sat talking to you with us on 18 points, we’re on 10,” he said.

“We’ve been in all the games, but it’s been about putting that wedge in, stopping the run of defeats.

“We drew last week but I think we deserved more than that, at least we got a point, and now we can push on.”
