HARTLEPOOL United could hand a debut to new loan signing Ryan Donaldson when they take on Notts County in League One at Victoria Park tonight.

The Newcastle United starlet arrived at Pools yesterday on a one-month deal and goes straight into the squad for the visit of the Magpies.

And with Pools having failed to find the back of the net in more than six hours of League One football, there could be a temptation to pitch Donaldson straight in at the forefront of the attack.

The Newcastle-born youngster could tonight replace Ritchie Humphreys, who played the full 90 minutes at Peterborough United on Saturday.

But manager Mick Wadsworth might see fit to err on the side of caution with the new boy, given his recent return from a knee cartilage injury.

Elsewhere, Peter Hartley is expected to be fit having been forced off at London Road because of illness.

Meanwhile, reports from Ireland suggest that a loan deal for Denis Behan to his former club Cork City has fallen through.
