New boss Ronnie Moore: It’s all positive now for Hartlepool United

Moore was interviewed yesterday and the first task of new owners TMH 2014 Ltd was to appoint the 61-year-old as their first manager.

Tuesday proved a tumultuous day for the club at the bottom of the Football League – with Increased Oil Recovery ending 17 years in control at Victoria Park and selling their shareholding to the company fronted by Peter Harris.

Pools are bottom of League Two and six points from safety going into Saturday’s game with Oxford United.

But it’s now onwards and upwards for the club insists Moore.

“It has been a mad few days but it’s all positive now for Hartlepool United and the fans,” said Moore.

“It’s a new start.

“There are new owners and a new manager and hopefully some good times for the club because there has been awful lot of bad ones.”

Moore beat several candidates to the job which was vacant following the sacking of Paul Murray after just 45 days in charge.

The former Tranmere Rovers and Rotherham boss watched Pools at Burton Albion on Saturday when they folded like a “pack of cards” to lost 4-0 to the promotion chasers.

“To be honest I was sat there for the first 44 minutes thinking ‘why are they bottom of the league?’,” he said.

“In those 44 minutes the was nothing in the game, bottom of the league against second.

“But one stupid mistake and they scored off the post and then the team conceded straight after the break.

“At 2-0 they should have still be in the game, it shouldn’t be the end of the world.

“But I just felt it was like a pack of cards, there was no leadership.”
