HARTLEPOOL United’s FA Cup Second Round tie with Blyth Spartans has been moved to Friday, December 5, and will be televised live on BBC2.
A spokesman for the club said: “There was a big reaction on social media when the teams were paired together in Monday’s draw, with many regarding the clash as the tie of the round.
“It’s the first time Pools have been selected for live television coverage in the FA Cup since they hosted Premier League West Ham United back in January 2009.”
Hartlepool made it into the Second Round after beating East Thurrock United 2-0. Blyth beat Conference Premier side Altrincham 4-1 to reach this stage of the competition for the first time since 2008/09.
It’s the first time Pools have taken on the Northumberland outfit since 1961 when a hat-trick from Bobby Folland and goals from Ken Johnson and Barry Parkes secured a 5-1 FA Cup win at The Vic.
The club says full ticket information for the fixture will be released in due course.
