HARTLEPOOL United will tackle Middlesbrough for the third year in a row in a pre-season friendly at Victoria Park.

Pools play host to boss Colin Cooper’s former club on Wednesday, July 30 (kick-off 7.30pm)

Both previous matches have ended in draws – 2-2 in 2012, when Neale Cooper was Pools boss, and 0-0 last August when Colin Cooper was on the touchline alongside his then assistant Craig Hignett.

Now, Higgy will be in the away technical area after leaving Pools in March to be Aitor Karanka’s number two at Boro.

Their Boro side finished the season as one of the Sky Bet Championship’s form teams and will represent a big test for Pools on July 30.

Prices for the game have been agreed at £10 for adults and £5 for Under 16s and Over 60s, with tickets going on sale in due course.

It’s the first pre-season friendly to be announced but other fixtures are in the pipeline and will be finalised in the coming weeks.
