Hartlepool United’s Hignett hails Rae display

Have your say

HARTLEPOOL United may have another look at Spennymoor Town striker Michael Rae as they look for a new goal-getter.

Rae, a former Pools professional, played the full 90 minutes in last night’s 1-0 reserve defeat to Doncaster Rovers at Billingham Town.

Assistant boss Craig Hignett picked out several positives in the Spennymoor man’s performance.

“Michael was one we wanted to have a look at,” Hignett said.

“I don’t think he’s as fit as he wants to be, he’ll admit that himself.

“But he put himself about and worked really hard on and off the ball.

“He made some really good runs, but, unfortunately, we weren’t able to find him with a pass.”
