Hartlepool United’s Cooper wants more from Poole

HARTLEPOOL boss Colin Cooper is looking for more from James Poole – starting in tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash at Sheffield United.

The 23-year-old played an advanced midfield role at Mansfield Town on Saturday when Pools took the Stags to the cleaners 4-1.

Poole linked up well with his team-mates in the final third and capped his display by scoring a beauty 10 minutes from time.

“James turned off his back foot and then let rip, it was a great strike,” Cooper said.

“I’ve seen what he can do but now he needs to deliver week-in week-out. Sometimes that’s hard for a forward, but to progress you need more consistency.”

Centre-half Sam Collins is an injury doubt after hurting his hurt his knee early on at Mansfield, while Jack Baldwin sits out tonight’s game after pickling up a fifth booking this season.
