JACK Baldwin today insisted Hartlepool United should relish their Capital One Cup challenge rather than fear it.
Pools have been drawn away to Nottingham Forest in the opening round of the competition in the first week of the 2013-14 campaign.
On paper, it is a mission impossible – a crack npower Championship side hosting a relegated team, who had one of the worst records in England last season.
Much will be made of the fact that Pools boss Colin Cooper will be taking his new club back to an old home.
But Baldwin believes the trip, almost certain to be on Tuesday, August 6, is a chance to show that the League Two team mean business.
“From a player’s point of view it will be a great game to play in, if I get picked,” said the gifted teenager, who excelled last season whether he was used in midfield or defence.
“Nottingham Forest is a club with a fantastic history and the City Ground is a fabulous stadium.
“It will be a great experience not just for a young player but for the other lads as well. It’s an exiting prospect.
“Obviously it is is going to be a tough game but we can go into it with no pressure on us.”
