Emily seeks final flourish from Durham Women

Durham Women winger Emily Roberts is looking to sign off the season in style when the Wildcats welcome Millwall Lionesses to New Ferens Park for Sunday's final game of the Women's Super League 2 season.

Roberts is keen to see the club continue to progress into 2017 and beyond.

Roberts, who joined in July after a spell at Doncaster Rovers Belles last season, has netted three times in helping the fourth-placed Wildcats to keep pace at the top of the table.

And the winger says the standards set this season must continue into next year.

“We would love to push on after this nice surprise of this season,” she said.

“It will be our highest finish after placing sixth and then seventh in the previous two seasons.

“We have set the standard, so we’d like to do just as well and really push on from the progress we have already made this year.

“We’ve got our fingers crossed for the final game. We want to put in a performance to end the season well.

“If we win our final game we can really push on and work hard during the off-season.”

Durham welcome Millwall to New Ferens Park on Sunday (2pm kick-off) and tickets are available on the gate.

Supporters will also be able to take advantage of dual tickets which give them the opportunity to attend Durham’s game followed by Sunderland Ladies’ final game of the season against Birmingham City at Eppleton CW at 6pm.
