Easington's cup dream dashed by West Auckland in extra time

West roared into a third-minute lead when Anthony Hume rifled the ball into the roof of the net, giving Easington goalkeeper Kyle Donaldson no chance.

The Colliers equalised after an hour. West keeper David Knight saved an Aidan Goodey penalty and then palmed the follow-up shot wide, but, from the resulting corner, Luke Page struck.

Extra time had hardly got underway before Joe Kerridge fired Easington ahead, but, two minutes later, Tony Martin stabbed home at the near post to again level.

West’s winner came in the 112th minute, with substitute Shaun Hudson finding the net.

West will host Second Division Whickham in the semi-finals, with South Shields meeting Newton Aycliffe in the other tie.
