Easington Colliery edge past Gateshead on penalties in County Cup
Easington Colliery progressed in the Durham Challenge Cup on penalties last night, beating Gateshead's second string 5-3 in the shoot-out after a tight, hard-fought goalless draw.
James Atkinson converted the winning penalty for the Ebac Northern League Colliers, who had seen Nathan Renton denied by a tremendous save from keeper Shaun Macdonald in the first half.
